Shortly after my apartment was set fire to by an arsonist, probably to get me out of the neighborhood because I was helping the street drunks (See "Radio 1983"), I got a call from a Tufts University WMFO DJ Tim Clifford in Massachusetts wanting to interview me about activities in BalTimOre. I'd had a very rough time recently & was seriously expecting to be murdered. Track 1 is this phone call, broadcast live if I understood correctly. Track 2 is what Tim & fellow MFO DJ Owen O'Toole did with the phone call recording. Owen went on to publish my 1st 2 records 8 & 10 years later.
Track 3 is of what was possibly the 1st playing of something of mine by G.X. Jupiter Larsen on CFRO in Vancouver, Canada. he starts off playing "booed usic" from the 5th B.U.T.N. anniversary (the "Telectropheremoanin'quinquennial") at the Galaxy Ballroom in the amazing Congress Hotel in BalTimOre on January 24, 1984. The 2nd piece he plays is from the performance I gave at Maryland Art Place as a part of their "Emergency" exhibit. The performance was called "Alternatives to Vicious Cycles: The Intermingling of Subcultures to Facilitate Understanding" & incorporated the Fear/Paranoia recordings that constitute the last 4 tracks of "Radio 1983" as well as some of the drunks, themselves. Larsen was probably one of the very few people on air at the time willing to play material like this. That's probably still true even today, 27 years later.
